Joylynn Ellis, age 73 of Uniontown PA passed away on November 15, 2017 following a full life of service to God, her church and family. She was born 11-28-1943. She was lastly the church organist at St. Peter's Church in Uniontown and a life member of St. Paul's Church in Uniontown previously. A devoted daughter to Sarah Virginia Dever Ellis Rutter and devoted granddaughter to Lucinda Taylor Dever, who she lived with and cared for until their deaths. She, as a toddler, waspreceded in death by her father, Robert Ellis during WWII when his air flight was shot down on its last mission before returning home to her.

She is survived by her sister Lea Rae Rutter Walls and Lea's husband Thomas, as well as her brother Scott Russell Rutter and his wife Pamela. She adored her nieces and nephews: Gretchen Walls Billy and husband Jared, Samantha Rutter and fianc Jordan Poindexter, and Christopher Rutter. She was always there for family and their life events. She is also survived by her cousins, but particularly Pamela Cole Blasick who grew up with her and shared 73 years together. Joylynn and her best friend Peggy Crossland spent endless hours on the phone and were beloved colleagues for many years. And lastly, Posey, her cat will miss her so much. Anyone who knew Joylynn will quickly tell you the sweet kind "selfless" soul she was. She took her last breaths with family surrounding her and her pastor Jim Engel who was there for her in need faithfully.

Joylynn was a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, graduating originally from Uniontown Hospital School of Nursing and later California University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She was also a graduate of Uniontown High School in 1961.

There will be a viewing at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 121 Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown PA on Sunday, November 19 from 1pm to 4pm followed by a service in her honor. Joylynn will be buried at Sylvan Heights Cemetery. A special thanks to Gretchen and Jared for all their hard work in helping Joylynn with her home, the staff of Uniontown Hospital who were absolutely wonderful to Joylynn, her pastor Jim Engel and her end of life nurse who cried with us, Ali Papi.
