Obituary

Josephine A. Kovalchick, 82 of Uniontown, Pa, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 24, 2017. She was born on March 18, 1935 in Uniontown.

Josephine was the last member of her immediate family, preceded in death by her parents, John C. and Helen (Sowinski) Kovalchick, brothers, John S. Kovalchick, Raymond M. Kovalchick, Francis D. Kovalchick, and her sister Bernadine Yespak.

She was a graduate of Mount Saint Macrina High School, a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, St. Joseph's Confraternity of Christian Mothers, St. George Altar Rosary Society, and Secular Franciscan Order with St. Anthony Friary.

Josephine retired from Gallet Knitting Mills, where she worked for over 40 years. She and her sister Bernadine were caregivers for their brother Francis for many years. After their passing, Josephine occupied her time making crafts for nursing home residents and elderly shut-ins.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews; two nieces who were like her daughters and lovingly knew her as "Aunt Jo Jo" , Helen Elizabeth Lowden and husband Robert, their children Cody William and Hailey Marie of Gibbon Glade, and Dianna Marie Suter and husband Shawn; nephew, Raymond Kovalchick, Jr. and wife Kim, niece, Diane Brown and husband Rob, niece, Julie Patsy and husband Bob; great nephews, Ray Kovalchick, III., Brett Kovalchick, and Gabrielle Kovalchick; and a sister-in-law, Josephine B. Kovalchick.

Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, Pa. on Sunday (today), November 26, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and on Monday, November 27, until 9:15 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

The Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. on Monday in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 180 Old Walnut Hill Rd., Uniontown, Pa.

Interment will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hopwood, Pa.
