Obituary

Mr. Joseph Olsavsky, 83, of West Leisenring, previously of Connellsville for thirty years, passed away on May 30, 2026 at his home.

He was born in Uniontown on May 25, 1943 to the late Joseph A. and Kathryn Patchan Olsavsky.

Joe graduated from Fairchance Georges High School, class of 1961.

He married Cynthia Lally on November 14, 1964. She preceded him in death on July 12, 2025.

He worked at Duraloy Technology in Scottsadale, retiring after twenty-three years. After taking part in the establishment of the Volkswagon Credit Union in New Stanton, he became the first president of the Credit Union.

Joe was a member of St. Aloysius Church in Dunbar.

He was a scout master for Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts.

Joe is survived by two daughters, Joanne Halfhill of West Leisenring, and Katy Marie Goyak and husband Kenneth of Easton, PA; five grandchildren, Jacob and Emma Halfhill, Cassidy, Cara, and Jack Goyak; great grandson, River Joe; sisters, Carol Kozak and husband Sam, and Helen Hustead; a brother, John Olsavsky; and a brother in law. George Kozak.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, David and Michael Olsavsky; a sister, Mary Ellen Kozak; and a brother in law, Lee Hustead.

Visitation for Joe will be held at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA 15401 on Friday, June 5th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 459 Ranch Road, Dunbar, PA 15431 on Saturday, June 6th at 11 AM.

Entombment is in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
