Obituary

Joseph Stephen Kikta, 79, of North Union Township, and formerly of Uniontown and Fairbank, passed away on May 16, 2015 in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born December 25, 1935 in West Newton, PA, son of the late Anna (Liptay) and Michael Kikta.

He was a graduate of North Union High School, the Fayette Institute of Commerce & Technology, and Triangle Tech. He was employed at Cavert Wire and as a draftsman and tool designer for McDonald Architects and for Modulus Screw & Bolt Corporation. He also worked as an instructor with Triangle Tech.

He was a member of St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church, a member of the International Ford Retractable Club, life member of the Penn Allegheny Car Club, and of the Fayette County Historical Society, where he served on the board for many years.

An avid spectator of all sports, he also regularly attended local and national car shows. He was a devoted volunteer, especially with the Historical Society. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family, especially his five grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers John and Edward.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Constance (Gabriel) Kikta; a son, Joseph Stephen II and wife Jessica of Belle Vernon and Middleton MA; daughter, Catherine Ann Kania and husband Paul of North Union Township; grandchildren Kylie Ann Kikta, Alex Ross Kikta, Aaron Steven Kikta, Paul Louis Kania Jr., and Ann Christina Kania; brother Paul Kikta; sisters Ann (John) Palya and Irene Keller; brother-in-law Ronald A. Gabriel and wife Nancy, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, , on Friday, May 22, 2015 from 2-8 p.m. and Saturday, May 23 until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

The Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church, 61 North Mount Vernon Ave, Uniontown, PA, with Rev. Father Peter L. Peretti as Celebrant.

Interment will be held in Mount Saint Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.

The Parish Wake Service will be held on Friday at 3 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel
