Joseph N. Doljac, 92, of Uniontown, PA, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 9, 2014. He was born on April 13, 1921 in Yugoslavia, son of the late John and Mary (Lescanec) Doljac.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Betty A. (Filcheck) Doljac; and five brothers and sisters: Lawrence Doljac, Caroline Kaydo, infant twins George and Mary Doljac, and infant Therese Doljac.

Joseph was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. He proudly served his country during WWII with the U.S. Army Artillery Battalion, in the European-African Theater of Operations, recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, and European-American Campaign Medal.

Joseph was a member of UMWA District 2. He was a coal miner for many years, retired from Robena Mine where he was affectionately known by his co-workers as G. I. Joe. During that time he served on the mine rescue team following the Robena Mine Disaster, December 6, 1962.

Joseph was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and enjoyed watching his Western movies. He loved spending time with his family, and was a great husband and Pap.

Left to cherish his memory are two children, son, Joseph D. Doljac and wife Bernie, and Carol A. Bakos and Ray Bobick, all of Uniontown; grandchildren, Steven Joseph Doljac and wife Lavonne, Kevin Doljac and wife Jane, and Paul "Paully" Bakos, all of Uniontown; A great grandson, Steven Joseph Doljac, Jr.; a brother, John Doljac and wife Catherine of Fredericksburg, VA, sisters, Kathryn Mihalsky of Footedale, PA, and Mary Eurez of Ohio; a sister-in-law, Irene Doljac of Kansas, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind special pet, "Tabby" his dog.

Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 North Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and Thursday, February 13, until 9:30 a.m. when prayers of Transfer will be said.

The Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. on Thursday in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 50 Jefferson St., Uniontown, PA, with Rev. Father James D. Tringhese as Celebrant.

Interment will be held at Mount Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown, PA, where military honors will be accorded.
