Joseph A. Davanzo, 77, of Uniontown, Pa., died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 9, 2019.

He was born on November 20, 1941 in Greensburg, Pa., son of the late Bruno and Edith (Muscenti) Davanzo.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a grandson, Sebastian Davanzo;

Joe was a member of St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, and Knights of Columbus Council 1275. He was a hard worker retired from construction, and Laborers Union Local 286. Prior to that, he worked for US Steel Corp. Christy Park. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and fisherman. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Catherine Louise (Sible) Davanzo whom he wed July 29, 1967; their children, Joseph R. Davanzo, Jr. of Braddock, Pa., Rose Marie Davanzo of Uniontown, Pa., Melanie M. Hardy and husband Benjamin of Washington, Pa., grandchildren, Jonathan Jordan, Dillon Jordan, Miriam Hardy, Joel Hardy, and Frances Hardy; a great granddaughter, Katana Storm; and a brother Richard Davanzo and wife Kathleen of Wyano, Pa.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no public visitation.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 14, in St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, 61 Mill St., Uniontown, Pa., for all family and friends to attend.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in his memory to St. Patrick Catholic School, 200 Murdock St., Canonsburg, Pa. 15317, where his grandchildren currently attend.
