Joseph A Cindric, age 102, of Uniontown, PA, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017.

He was born February 1, 1915 in Phillips, PA, son of the late Nicholas and Clara (Pulig) Cindric. He was the second oldest of eight children, all of whom preceded him in death.

Joseph attended North Union Schools. In 1942, Joe married Kathryn Fecek. She passed away in 1946 after the birth of their daughter Kathy. During WWII, he joined the Army Air Forces and was part of the ground crew that supported B-17 and B-24 bombers in England. In 1951, Joe married Louise Bonno and moved to his present home on Bute Road. Joe and Louise became very involved in the community of Oliver 3, helping to establish the Valley Sportsman Club. Joe was one of the founders of Thaw Troop 690 of the Boy Scouts of America. Joe continued to be very active in Scouting for over 60 years, earning the prestigious Silver Beaver Award and the Order of the Arrow Award. Joe worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, which became Penn Central and then Conrail. He retired from the railroad in 1980. After retiring, he continued his Scouting work and had even more time to pursue his hobbies of gardening, wine making and woodworking. For many years he supplied his family and friends with all their fruits and vegetables. And up until a few days ago, he was still feeding his beloved birds.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Kathy, and two sisters-in-law, Regina Cindric and Norma Cindric.

Joe will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews and their families, who all considered him the head of the family.

Friends were received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Sunday February 26, 2017, Monday February 27, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. and on Tuesday February 28, 2017 until 9:45 A.M. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

The Funeral Mass will follow at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church 50 Jefferson Street, Uniontown, PA, at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Father James D. Tringhese as Celebrant.

Interment will be held in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth, PA, where Military Honors will be accorded by the AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood.

The Boy Scouts will hold a service on Monday at 7 p.m.
