Joseph B. Banko, 92, of Uniontown, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at home. He was born March 2, 1922 in Phillips, PA son of the late John and Joanna (Jakubic) Banko.

Joseph was the last remaining member of his immediate family. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Rose M. (Lorenc) Banko in 2005.

Joseph served in the United States Army and then went on to attend Robert Morris College where he received a bachelor's degree in accounting. He owned and operated the Joseph B. Banko Agency. In addition to being an accountant, he was also an insurance and real estate agent. Joseph was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church.

When his health was better, his favorite hobby was working in his garden with his wife by his side.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Joseph B. Banko Jr. and wife Adria of Mt. Lebanon, PA, Sister Janelle Banko, SHS of West Mifflin, PA, Judith Kolonsky and husband David of Upper Middletown, PA, and Jane Banko of Uniontown, with whom he made his home; grandchildren, Kara Gais and husband James, Kevin Kolonsky and wife Jill, Alan Kolonsky, and Jill Banko; and his special little buddy and great grandchild Cameron Gais.

Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 North Gallatin Ave. Ext, Uniontown, PA., on Sunday, October 5, from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. and on Monday, October 6, until 9:15 A.M. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

The Funeral Mass will follow at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 180 Old Walnut Hill Rd, Uniontown, PA 15401, at 10 A.M. with Rev. Father Ronald L. Simboli as Celebrant.

Interment will follow at Mt. Saint Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown, PA
