John M. Hovanic, 95 of Smock passed on Friday May 17, 2019. Born September 17, 1923 in Grindstone, son of the late John and Katherine (Janesko) Hovanic; Beloved husband of the late Dorothy H. (Lengvarsky) Hovanic; father of John M. Jr. (Mickey) Hovanic of Smock, Donna (Late Marty) Rancosky of Smock, Linda (late Dan) Vekkeli of Uniontown, Tom (Mary Ann) Hovanic of Uniontown, Dottie (Lennie) Fouch of Perryopolis and the late Daniel Hovanic; Grandfather of 14, Great Grandfather of 23 and Great-Great Grandfather of 2; preceded in death by his siblings Mary Vargo, Ann Sumberaze, Katherine Zovic, Stephen Hovanic, Helen McCrory and Pauline Dooley and also a grandchild; John was a Marine Veteran of World War II, a former Millwright at US Steel Clairton Works, a member of the USW Union and the former St. Hedwig's Church and its Holy Name Society and a member of St. Therese Church of Uniontown. He was an avid hunter and jack of all trades, enjoyed working with his hands. He lived his life through his faith and loved his family. Viewing Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Stephen R. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown where prayers of transfer will be said on Wednesday 9:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Therese De Lisieux Church, 61 Mill Street, Uniontown.
