John Edward Zimcosky, 78, of Peninsula, Ohio, died on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in Akron General Hospital, Ohio.
He was born on April 13, 1935 in Smock, PA, son of William J. and Josephine (Glowacka) Zimcosky.
John was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Catherine Dubos, and five brothers, William Zimcosky, Jr., Stanley Zimcosky, Anthony Zimcosky, Bernard Zimcosky and Philip Zimcosky.
Left to cherish his memory are eight brothers and sisters, Josephine Zimcosky of Smock, PA, Anna Marie Kolasa of Cleveland, OH, Leo Zimcosky of Mentor, OH, Barbara Arnold of Cleveland, OH, Francis Zimcosky of Grindstone, PA, Cecilia Dickson of Latrobe, PA, Paul Zimcosky of West Brownsville, PA and James Zimcosky of Lewisville, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
John was a member of the former St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church in Smock, PA, and had been a groundskeeper for the parish and cemetery.
Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 North Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Sunday, March 23, from 4-8 p.m.; and Monday, March 24, until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
The Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Cecelia Roman Catholic Church, Grindstone, PA, with Rev. Father James F. Petrovsky as Celebrant.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to Wayside Farm Nursing Center, Inc., 4557 Quick Road, Peninsula, OH, 44264.
Interment will be held in the St. Hedwig Cemetery, Smock, PA.
The Parish Wake Service will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m.
