Joanne Phares, 61, of Connellsville, PA, died suddenly on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Fairweather Lodge Assisted Living. She was born on November 17, 1953 in Uniontown, daughter of the late Hershel L. Phares and Melinda M. (Flamini) Phares.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by a brother Ronald E. Phares, and a sister-in-law, Ruth Phares.

Joanne was a graduate of Uniontown Area High School Class of 1972, and a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church of Uniontown. She had been employed at Burger King in Uniontown in the past. She loved to crochet, making many beautiful handmade throws for her family. Joanne was an avid Steeler fan.

Left to cherish her memory are five brothers and sisters, Karen Stainbrook of Washington, PA, Hershel L. Phares, Jr. of Apollo, PA, Harold D. Phares, Sr. and wife Bonnie, and Marlene Phares, all of Uniontown, PA, and Gary T. Phares, Sr. of Farmington, PA; special nephew, Harold D. Phares, Jr. and wife Amanda of Leola, PA, and other dear nieces and nephews, Nelson H. Phares, Melinda A. Centner and husband Skip, Eric Phares and wife Melissa, Erin Shaffer and husband Rusty, Christa Stoltzfus and husband Ben, Gary T. Phares, Jr. and Nicole Villinger and husband Joe; and five great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 14, at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 50 Jefferson St., Uniontown, PA, with Father Bill Kiel as Celebrant. Interment will be held at Sylvan Heights Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA.
