Jean Frances (Maygar) Yasechko, 87, of Smithfield, PA, passed away peacefully to be with our Lord on Thursday, February 9, 2017, with her loving family at her side.

She was a faithful member of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in Masontown, PA. She was born on June 25, 1929 in Melvindale, Michigan. She worked briefly for the L.J. Hauze Company and the North Municipal Water Corporation.

Jean graduated from Georges Township High School in 1947 where she enjoyed leading the marching band as Captain of the Majorette Squad. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, and vegetable and flower gardening. She loved her sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws and her many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, her 2 children, and husband.

Jean was preceded in death by her mother Mary E. Demaske, stepfather Frank Demaske, paternal father George Maygar, and infant brother George Maygar.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 65 years, Charles G. Yasechko; son Charles R. Yasechko, and daughter Cheryl A. Kurosky, all of Smithfield, her grandchildren, Jennifer Barber of McClellandtown and grandson Eric Kurosky of Morgantown, West Virginia.

Many thanks to the nurses at Amedisys for their heartfelt care and concern, Rev. William Berkey of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish for the many home visits, and to all who offered their help and prayers.

In accordance with her wishes, private visitation will be held for her family.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10 a.m. in Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, Masontown, Pa, with Rev. Father William G. Berkey as celebrant.

Private interment will follow at Mount Saint Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.

Masontown, PA.
