Dr. James Howard  "Jay"  Precht, Jr., age 53 of Uniontown, Pa. died suddenly at home on Saturday, October 1, 2022. He was born on August 25, 1969 in Jennings, Louisiana.

Jay is survived by his parents, James and Linda (Welborn) Precht, Sr. of Missouri; loving wife of 25 years, Sarah Anne (Jones) Precht, their sons, Jayson Tyler Precht and Benjamin James Precht ; brothers John Precht, Tommy Precht, and Toby Precht; and many nieces and nephews.  aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jay received a Master's Degree from Central Missouri State University Dept. of History and Anthropology, and earned a Ph D in History from Arizona State University. He was currently a Professor of History with Penn State University Fayette, Eberly Campus. He authored and co-authored many written works on different cultures. During peacetime, he served with the United States Army, stationed in Germany.

He was a devoted and loving husband and father, and a great cook.  His sons were the light of his life; he enjoyed being a part of their lives and all their endeavors.

Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown on Saturday, October 8, from 2-6p.m.; and  also on Sunday morning October 9, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the Hour of Service, with Rev. Lee Maley officiating.  The George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 will accord military honors at the funeral home chapel.
