July 7, 1950 – December 23, 2018
James Andrew "Jim" Nemchik, 68, of Lemont Furnace, Pa., passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 23, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 7, 1950 in Uniontown, Pa. His father, Andrew J. Nemchik preceded him in death.
Surviving are, his mother, Mary Ann (Mihaliak) Nemchik of Uledi, Pa.; his devoted wife of 44 years, Barbara (Triplett) Nemchik; their children, Donald Nemchik of Lemont Furnace, Pa., and David Nemchik and wife Vanessa of Greensburg, Pa.; a sister, Pat Coyle of Charleroi, Pa., and brothers, Tom Nemchik and wife Sue of Fayetteville, Ga., and Rob Nemchik and wife Patsy of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a brother-in-law, Dr. Bruce Triplett and wife Dr. Stephanie Triplett of Uniontown, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. His buddies, Ruby, Me Me, Linus, Po, Zeus, Zoey and Odin held a special place in his heart.
James proudly served his country in the United States Army for 6 years active duty, and for 18 years as an Army Reservist. He was a Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker for 35 years with the International Brotherhood of Sheet Metal Workers Local 12. During the last part of his career, he was employed with Hranec Corp., Uniontown, Pa., where he served as Shop Steward. His love of NASCAR (before Restrictor plates) was known by all.
Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, Pa. on Wednesday, December 26, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.; and on Thursday, December 27, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., the Hour of Service, with Pastor Michael Lyons officiating. Military honors will follow in the funeral home chapel, accorded by North Union VFW Post 8543.
Private interment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.
We will be forever grateful for the warm, caring support we received from Amedisys Hospice (thank you Breanna) and Hillman Cancer Center in Uniontown.
