IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helen Frances
(Platz) Adao
September 30, 1936 – September 28, 2023
The veil between heaven and earth parted on September 28th for our beloved mother and grandmother, Helen Frances (Platz) Adao and she entered into eternal life.
Born on September 30, 1936 in Fairbank, PA, Helen would have celebrated her 87th birthday this week.
Helen was the daughter of the late Frank Sr. and Emma (Gocal) Platz and the beloved wife of the late Armand (Sonny)Adao.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Frank "Buck" Platz Jr.; Left to cherish her memory are her children Linda (Edward) Ruda and Victor (Janine) Adao; her grandchildren Kristin (Don) Jones, Tyler (Jill) Ruda, Evan Ruda and Gianna Ruda; her great grandchildren Jacob and Rocco Jones; her sister JoAnn (John) Pecsko and several nieces and nephews.
Helen was raised in Searights, Pa and met the love of her life, Sonny, in high school. When Sonny left to serve in the Korean War they wrote each other daily and married on October 15, 1955. They truly lived a "Happily Ever After life" until Sonny's death on October 14, 2003.
A strong and prayerful woman, Helen continued life without her beloved Sonny and immersed herself into life with her faith, family, and friends. In her healthier years, she was a daily mass attendee and enjoyed breakfast afterwards with her special friends, Lucy and Lou, Ann and Joe, and Rose as well as numerous others.
During her working years she was employed at the Uniontown Credit Bureau and Famous Supply Company.
She was involved in many activities: St. Therese Altar Society, Catholic War Vets, Golden Club, The Order of St. Francis Catholic Group (OSF), and The Good Samaritan Quilters/Handful of Mercy, St. Vincent DePaul. Reading romance novels and quilting were her passion and she created many beautiful quilts. She loved her God and her family above all else and was the best mom, sister, friend, and grandmother that anyone could have prayed for and we were all so very blessed by having her in our lives. We will forever miss her beautiful smile that she always shared with everyone.
Our family would like to thank the staff of Beechwood Court where Helen recently resided. They were not just staff but became family over the past year and a half and she truly loved them. A special thank you to Laurie, Sherry, Liz, Audrey, Pam, Lolita and Kevin who took such special care of her. Also, thank you to the staff of Amedysis Hospice for their care and support.
