Obituary

On August 22 nd , 2019 Harry L. "Skip" Moore was called home to be with the Lord and our savior Jesus Christ.  Skip was born in Uniontown, PA on December 25 th , 1944 to the late Harry L. and Irene (Phelan) Moore.  He was a beloved husband of 44 years to Barbara (Freed) Moore and devoted father to JoyceLynn (Jake) Kurnot and grandfather to Kylee Kurnot, whom he shared an unbreakable bond, and his best canine friend, Parker.  He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Gary (Marlene) Moore, sister-in-law JoEllen Tajc, nephew Kenny Nicholson, and niece Pamela Moore.  As a Marine Sergeant, Skip proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and remained a faithful Marine to the very end. "Once a Marine, always a Marine." The bond of brotherhood with his Veteran friends was like no other. Skip was an active member of the Hopwood Amvets and the VVI of Fayette County. He spent over 40 years working for the AC Moyer Paving Co. retiring as a foreman and was a former Fire Chief for the West Leisenring VFD.  Skip could always be found on Sunday mornings drinking coffee and sharing stories and his contagious smile with his buddies at the Uniontown Fire Station. Skip loved to go fishing and was a dedicated Pirates fan, win or lose.  Anyone who was lucky to cross Skip's path was blessed.  Left to cherish the countless memories along with his close family, are numerous family members and friends whom he loved dearly.  The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Mt Macrina, where Skip resided the last month, for their support and care. Family and friends will be welcomed at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext. in Uniontown on Sunday from 6-8PM and Monday from 2-4 PM and 6-8PM, where a service will be held on Tuesday at 11AM, followed by internment at Sylvan Heights Cemetery with full military honors.  The Fire Dept. will hold a service Sunday evening at 7PM and the Veterans will hold a service on Monday evening.  Shared memories and tributes are welcome at www.hakyfuneralhome.com.
