Obituary

Mr. George L. "Corky" Legarth, Sr., 86, of West Leisenring, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Peroni Personal Care Home with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Uniontown on May 2, 1937 to the late George Edward and Veronica Kisiday Legarth.

George was married to Bonita Joyce "Bon" Firestone Legarth and she preceded him in death on August 19, 1986.

He was a retired veteran of the Army Reserves.  George was a coal miner and roof bolter; having worked at and retired from the Maple Creek Mine.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman.  George was a member and well attendee of the Star Junction, Juniata, Hutchinson, Amend, Fairbanks, Mountain Lodge and South Connellsville Sportsman Clubs.  He enjoyed raising beagles and rabbits, and was a member of the Uniontown Beagle Club.

George is survived by his two sons, George L. Legarth, Jr. and wife Dana of Dunbar, and Ronald L. Legarth, Sr. and wife Christina of Hopwood; four grandchildren, Melayna (Legarth) Herman and husband Michael of Connellsville, Malarie (Legarth) Andolino and husband Zach of Connellsville; Mackenzie Legarth and fiancé Alan Cooley of Smithfield, and Ronald L. Legarth, Jr. of Hopwood; six great grandchildren, Mckinley, Lainey, Riley, Marshall, Colsen, and Madeline; a brother, Sylvestor "Butch" Legarth and wife Diane of Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and companion Colleen Jones and her children, Crystal Clark, Tom Jones, and Suzanne Jones, and her grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Stacey Renee and son Baby Boy Legarth; two sisters, Martha Lovaty and Marlene Trout.

Friends and family may call at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA 15401, on Wednesday, February 7 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 8 at 10 AM.

Interment is in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
