George J. Hamilla's Obituary
George J. Hamilla III., age 56 of Smithfield, PA, died on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV. He was born on April 13, 1954 in Uniontown, PA, son of George J. Hamilla, Jr. and Ann H. (Petty) Hamilla. His parents; and father-in-law Thomas Allison preceded him in death.
Mr. Hamilla was a teacher, retired from Albert Gallatin School District where he taught Social Studies for 35 years. He was a graduate of Albert Gallatin High School Class of 1972, and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education at California University in 1975. George has also coached basketball for Point Marion Junior High School.
Professionally, Mr. Hamilla will be remembered for his outrageous, creative, and effective teaching methods. Personally, he will be remembered as the friend who kept everyone laughing and a man who had endless love and affection for family.
Surviving are, his loving wife Mary C. (Allison) Hamilla, with whom he celebrated 24 years of marriage on November 23; their children, son, Michael J. Hamilla a student at Seton Hill University, PA, and daughter, Rachel A. Hamilla, at home; brothers, Richard Hamilla and wife Loretta of Masontown, PA, and Jeffrey Hamilla and wife Mary Frances of Connellsville, PA; mother-in-law Maxine Allison of Masontown, PA; brothers-in-law, Scott Allison of New York, Joseph Allison and wife Sonia of Masontown, PA, and Paul Allison and wife Jodi of Moon Township, PA; and nieces and nephews, Daniel and Natalie Hamilla, Angela and Josh Allison, and Brendan Allison.
Friends will be received in the Haky Funeral Home, Inc, 515 North Main St., Masontown, Pa. on Sunday, November 28, from 2-9 p.m.; and on Monday, November 29, 2010 until 9:30 am when prayers of transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in All Saints Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Father John M. Butler as Celebrant. Interment will be held at Saint Agnes Cemetery, Leckrone, PA. The Parish Wake Service will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m.
