Garnet V. Phelan, age 94, of Lemont Furnace, PA died on Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Golden Living Nursing Center, Uniontown, PA. She was born in North Union Township on July 10, 1918, daughter of Owen Curtis Hughes and Iva (Clark) Hughes.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Phelan, and several brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, son, Robert D. Phelan and his wife Norma J. Phelan of Lemont Furnace, PA; and daughter, Karen L. Ruozzi and her husband Richard Ruozzi of Singers Glen, VA; seven grandchildren, Robert E. Phelan and wife Christine, Christopher Phelan and wife Angie, Jonathan Phelan and wife Jessica, Kristina Phelan, Skye Ruozzi, Ross Ruozzi, and Max Ruozzi; ten great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; her sister-in-law, Viola "Jayne" Hughes of Connellsville, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

In earlier years Garnet attended Central Christian Church, and currently received prayers and visits from ministry of the Cove Run Free Methodist Church. She was a graduate of North Union High School.

Garnet was a wonderful homemaker, beloved mother and grandmother, and will be deeply missed.

Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, today (Wednesday) July 18, from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m.; and on Thursday, July 19 from 9 -11 a.m.

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Paul E. Eckenrode Officiating.

Interment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA
