Obituary

Fred " Hawk" David, 90 years young of Uniontown passed away June 5th in Uniontown Hospital surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born on December 13, 1933 in Uniontown to the late Anna and Simon "Cocky" David.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Elsie David whom he would do anything she wanted, and his son Ron. His sisters, Annamarie and and his twin sister Fran; his brothers, Junebug, Johnny and Joey.
Hawk graduated from Uniontown High School where he lettered in 4 sports: Football, Basketball, Track and Cross Country. He turned down a football scholarship at Virginia to stay local to work and then eventually marrying Elsie and raising his family. He was the biggest Notre Dame fan you would ever meet and made sure he attended at least one game in South Bend Indiana annually. You could always hear him singing or humming the Victory March, he even had it as his ringtone.

He was one of the best story tellers ever. When he wasn't telling life stories or giving you his opinions, you could see him and Elsie at one of his grandchildren's activities or parties. He was so proud of his family.

He served in the Army, moved to Cleveland with Elsie and started their family before moving back to his hometown. He was a lifetime member in many clubs including Amvets, Knights of Columbus and Catholic War Vets to name a few.

Hawk went on to become a very successful insurance agent for American General for 33 years where he achieved leadership status in the company year after year.

Hawk was an avid golfer and even became a starter for a few years. After golf he would head to a local pub and you could catch him pulling out his notebook to write a few numbers.

Hawk and Elsie loved going on long car rides around the mountains and even going to Williamsburg, Virginia. That was their favorite place to vacation every year.

Hawk will be missed by so many, he really was a guy that could light up the room with his stories and such great details. When he spoke, you had to just listen. He was always so proud to tell stories about his past and his family. Hawk did what very few could accomplish, he grew up very poor and became successful all while helping everyone around him. He always believed in doing what is right. He valued his family name and always let others know he was there if they needed any help. Honesty and doing what is right, were his beliefs. He was afraid of nothing and no one. I guess that was just another reason everyone always felt good and safe when around him.

Hawk is survived by his 4 children: Denise Chesler and spouse Ron, Duke David and spouse Sherri, Daniel "Ta" David, and Putty David and spouse Rhonda.

Hawk has 10 grandchildren that he absolutely adored and 9 great grandchildren with one on the way.
Today, tomorrow, next week and even a year from now when you think about Hawk, say a prayer (St. Jude is his favorite) and give thanks for what you have !  He did this regularly and he never took anything for granted.  GO IRISH !
