Frank J. Savel, age 88, of Oliver, PA, passed away, on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. He was born on November 8, 1924, in Oliver, PA., son of the late August Savel Sr. and Mary K. (Kline) Savel.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Anne (Putanko) Savel; brothers, Mike, Joseph, and August Jr.; and sisters, Ann, Mary, Elizabeth, and Catherine.
Frank was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church. He worked as a highlift operator for Martin Marietta and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Infantry in W.W.II.
Surviving is his step son, Joseph R. Putanko and wife Peg; granddaughter, Jodie (Putanko) Cales and husband Kevin; nephew, Edward Savel and wife Faye, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Sunday, July 28, 2013, from 3-8 p.m; and July 29, from 12-1 p.m. when a Panachida Service will be held.
The Divine Liturgy will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013 in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Ronald P. Larko as Celebrant.
Interment will follow be Private.
A Parastas Service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, July 28 at 7:00 p.m.
