Francis J. "Buckey" Cervone's Obituary
Francis J. "Buckey" Cervone, age 86, of Masontown, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 12, 2011.
He was born on June 24, 1924 in New Castle, PA, son of the late Felix and Mary (Minutillo) Cervone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jane "Jean" (Elias) Cervone, sons, Larry A. Cervone, and Ricky J. Perrotta, a brother, Albert, and sisters, Nancy, and Lena.
He is survived by a daughter, Diane R. Cervone, with whom he made his home; a son Jamie F. Cervone of Uniontown, PA; grandchildren, Thomas Collier IV., Katie "Little Jeanie" Collier, Christopher Perrotta, Michael Perrotta, and Ricky Perrotta, Jr.; great grandchildren, Peyton Cervone, Anthony Cervone, Bailey Cervone, and Arianna Collier; sisters, Thelma Gilghrist of Kent, OH, Rose Peterson and Antoinette Krueger, both of Edinburg, PA; and Betty Mehalic of Cleveland, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
Buckey was a member of All Saints Roman Catholic Church of Masontown. He proudly served his country during the Korean War with the United States Army. He was a member of the Fort Mason American Legion Post 423, Knights of Columbus, and Italo-American Citizens Club.
He was employed with E & H Chevrolet as Shop Foreman for many years, and retired from the Masontown Water Plant where he was a treatment operator. For the past 18 years, he has been a devoted and beloved staff member of the Haky Funeral Homes of Masontown and Uniontown.
He cherished his family, and was a very generous, faithful, and hardworking man. He will be deeply missed by his family, and many friends.
Friends will be received in the Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 515 N. Main Street, Masontown, PA, on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. when a candlelight vigil Blessing Service will be held, with Rev. Father John M. Butler Officiating.
Military honors will follow accorded by Faith-Gray-McArdle VFW Post 4584.
Interment will be privately held for the famiy at Greenwood Cemetery, New Castle, PA.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, River Walk Corp. Centre, 333 E. Carson St., Suite 441, Pittsburgh, PA
