Fiore D. Piccolomini, 87, of Uniontown, PA, died on Thursday, February 12, 2015 in Uniontown, with his loving family at his side. He was born on October 11, 1927 in Filbert, PA, son of the late Domenico and Ellen (Cari) Piccolomini.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary J. (Zugaro) Piccolomini on January 31, 1985; brothers, Vincent and Louis Piccolomini; and a sister, Rita Montvilas.

Fiore graduated from Redstone High School Class of 1945, and was a member of the class reunion committee, he proudly served his country with the U.S. Army 163rd Transportation Corp during WWII in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He partnered with his father Domenico, owner and operator of Ainey Coal Company and Domenico & Son Coal Company of Shoaf, PA from 1947 until 1949. During that time, and until 1950, he worked with his father who owned and operated the Golden Star Inn in Republic, a popular nightclub.

In the late 1950's Fiore purchased Domenico's Restaurant in Uniontown from his father, who he worked with for many years. He founded Piccolomini Glassware, a restaurant supply store, with his brother Louis in 1970. Later, as sole owner he moved the business from Gallatin Ave., then to Pittsburgh St. until 2011, when he retired.

Fiore was a member of St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, member and Past Commander of Cardale VFW Post 5576, former VFW Post 47, George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103, Charter Member of La Bella Lodge 450 Sons of Italy, Cardale, he later joined Giuseppe Mazzini Lodge 231, Uniontown.

He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 1275 Uniontown, past member of the Fayette County Tavern Association. He served on the Fayette County Board of Drugs and Alcohol for fifteen years from 1977-1992, served on the South Union Water Authority, he was a member of the Pennsylvania Restaurant Association where he served as Past President, and most recently Treasurer, he was instrumental in the Culinary and Hotel Management Scholarship Program.

Fiore did extensive genealogical research into the history of the Piccolomini Family, of which he was very proud.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Carol Tajc and husband Ronald of Uniontown, PA, Marion Piccolomini and husband John Vigilone of Glenmoore, PA, and Dominick Piccolomini and wife Michele (Keder) of Hanover, VA; grandchildren, Jonathan Tajc, Mary Beth Tajc, Mark Viglione, Dante Piccolomini, Maria Piccolomini, Mario Piccolomini, and Angelina Piccolomini; sisters, Enis Argenti and husband Bill, and Connie Bart and husband Carmen; brother, Domenico Piccolomini, Jr. and wife Barbara; sisters-in-law, Margaret Piccolomini and Jane Piccolomini; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Sunday, February 15, from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 16, in St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, 61 Mill St., Uniontown, PA, with Msgr. Michael W. Matusak as Celebrant. All family members and friends should go directly to the church on Monday.

Entombment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery Chapel of Memories Mausoleum, where military honors will be accorded by George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103.

The Parish Wake Service will be held on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m.
