Eugene John "E. J." Witteman, 42, of New Salem, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Siemon Lakeview Manor, Somerset, Pa. He was born on July 23, 1975 in Uniontown, Pa, preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Viola Whetzel.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving parents, Albert E. and Roberta A. (Whetzel) Witteman, his brother, Jason A. Witteman, all of Uniontown, Pa., and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

E.J. was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Footedale, a graduate of Laurel Highlands High School, a graduate and Class Valedictorian of Triangle Technical Institute. He was also a member of Hutchinson Sportsmen's Club.

He was very considerate of others, mild mannered and kind. He was a good son and brother, and will be deeply missed by his family.

Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, Pa. on Monday, October 2, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m; and Tuesday, October 3, until 9:15 a.m.

The Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Footedale, Pa., with Rev. Father William G. Berkey as celebrant.

Interment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.
