Obituary

Eleanor M. (Hamborsky) Grote, 84, of Uniontown, PA, died on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at home. She was born on September 8, 1928 in Lemont Furnace, PA, daughter of the late Steve and Mary (Lazur) Hamborsky.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Ralph Edward Grote and Larry Dale Grote; sisters, (infant) Mary Hamborsky, Elizabeth Kloock, Ann Lopez, Magdelena Knapp, Agnes Hamborsky, and Margaret Briggs; and brothers, (infant) Valent Grote, Andrew Hamborsky, and Leonard Hamborsky.

Eleanor was a member of St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church and the former St. Cecelia Chapel, member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers, the Secular Franciscan Order, and Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary Post 1669. She had been a member of the Church Choir and Resurrection Choir as well as serving as a Church Lector. Eleanor was very proud to have been a recipient of the 2006 Franciscan Family of the Year Award.

Surviving is her beloved husband of 62 years, Eugene G. Grote; their children, Dennis Grote and wife Janet of Brownsville, PA; Rev. Father Alan Grote of (St Lawrence R.C. Church) Cadogan, PA; Regis Grote and wife Tracy of St. Albans, WV; daughter-in-law, Jane Kisko Grote of Smithfield, PA; a sister, Katherine Marcinko of Latrobe; and brothers, Edward Hamborsky and wife Monika of Alexandria, VA; William Hamborsky of Lexington, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA., on Sunday, August 25, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.; Monday, August 26, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.; and on Tuesday, August 27, until 10:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

The Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church, 61 North Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, PA, with her son, Rev. Father Alan Grote as main celebrant and Rev. Father Peter L. Peretti as concelebrant.

Interment will be held at St. Mary (Nativity) Cemetery, Uniontown, PA

The Parish Wake Service will be held on Monday at 3 p.m., followed by the Confraternity of Christian Mothers prayers, and the Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary services.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favorite charity or to St. Mary (Nativity) R. C. Church.
