Edward E. Suchevits, age 84, of Uniontown, PA, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, March 24, 2016.
He was born on October 28, 1931 in Uniontown, PA, son of the late Ignatius & Mary (Stunja) Suchevits. He married Dolores (Barkovic) Suchevits on June 2,
1956.
He was a member of Saint Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church, and was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union for over 50 years.
Edward proudly served his country as a combat veteran in the Korean War with the United States Marine Corp. at the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his four years of service with the U.S. military he attained his high school diploma, and was honorably discharged.
He spent most of his career as a Consultant in the floor chemical industry, prior to starting his own business. He founded (FIC) Food Industry Consultants in 1983, from which he retired in 2007, when the business was acquired by his youngest son Mark. The business today is known as Apex Cleaning Supply.
He enjoyed spending time with his dear children and grandchildren, listening to his favorite tamburitzan music, and sitting on his back porch enjoying scenic views of the mountains, and listening to the birds sing.
In addition to his parents and loving wife, Dolores "Toots" Suchevits, he was predeceased by his eldest son, Edward Jr., and infant daughter, Dolly, as well
as, numerous brothers, sisters and other close relatives.
He was the father of 11 children, a grandfather of 18, and a great-grandfather of 1.
He is survived by his children, Mary Rose Suchevits, Geri Rivera, Monica Suchevits, Donna Welsh and husband Kevin, Carol Ferencak and husband
Michael, David Suchevits, Steven Suchevits, Debra Hudock and husband Brent, and Mark Suchevits; grandchildren, Edward Suchevits III, Sean Suchevits
and wife Tara, Lee Edenfield, Jennifer Suchevits, Natalie Rivera, Alexander Rivera, Timothy Suchevits, David Suchevits Jr., Steven Suchevits Jr.,
Emily Welsh, Jeremy Welsh, Matthew Suchevits, Tyler Suchevits, Adison Suchevits, Andrew Hudock, Luka Suchevits, Koi Suchevits, Allison Hudock and one
great-grandson, Wyatt Suchevits, as well as, his brother Richard and wife Diane Suchevits, several nieces, nephews and other family members.
Family and Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, PA, on Monday from
2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.; and on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, until 9 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
The Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in Saint Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church, 61 N. Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, PA, with Rev. Father Peter L. Peretti as main celebrant, and Rev. Father Sami Chaaya as con-celebrant.
Interment will be held at Mount St. Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown PA, where military honors will be accorded at graveside by George C. Marshall Amvets Post 103.
The Parish Wake Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 28, at 3:30 p.m.
