May 21, 1933 – January 3, 2023
Edward J. Polito, Sr., 89 of Uniontown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital. He was born in Oliver on May 21, 1933, son of the late Michael and Carmella "Nellie" (Coville) Polito. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Catherine Sue (Manack) Polito; their daughter Theresa M. Polito Bush; brothers Pete, Joe, Jim, Dom, and Michael "Zeke" Polito; and sisters-in-law Kay, Jeanette, Irene, Retha, and Martha Polito.
Edward was a truck driver for Jordan Banana Company, Eastern Freight, Quinn Freight Lines, and Golden Eagle Construction Company. He was a member of the local Teamsters #491, and member of St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church. He will be deeply missed by his loving family, children Debbie Allen (Dave) of Coraopolis, Diane King (Ed) of Berlin, MD, Annette Hudock (Frank) of Uniontown, and Edward J. Polito, Jr. (Anna) of Washington, PA; grandchildren Brook Wilkins, Matthew King (Carrie), Chelsey Heilman (Michael), Sofia Polito, and E.J. Polito, III; great-grandchildren Vincent King, Kara King, and Evelynn Heilman; brothers Carmen Polito (Betty) and Bill Polito (Dolores), all of Uniontown, Frank Polito (Ella "Pinky") and Patsy Polito, all of Ohio, Rich Polito (Lois) of Sharon, PA; sister-in-law Marion Polito of North Carolina; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Friday, January 6, from 2pm until 8pm, and on Saturday, January 7, until 10am, when a Blessing Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of other tributes, please make contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital in his memory.
