Mr. Edward L. Maldovan, 77, of Uniontown, died on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Uniontown Hospital with his family by his side.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Victoria P. (Barno) Maldovan on January 15, 2022. They were wed on November 15, 1969.
Edward was born on December 22, 1946.  He grew up in "Woodside", Smithfield, PA, son of the late John and Lovetta Maldovan.
He is survived by his son, Edward J. Maldovan and wife Kelly R. Bradigan-Maldovan of Uniontown; daughters, Victoria L. Maldovan-Dzmura and husband Mark R. Dzmura of Scott Township, and Valerie M. Maldovan-Popielarcheck and husband Albert J. Popielarcheck, Jr. of Waltersburg.  Grandchildren, Sarah R. Maldovan of Uniontown, Elizabeth V. Dzmura and Laszlo R. Dzmura of Scott Township and Albert "Tre" J. Popielarcheck, III of Waltersburg.  He is also survived by his brothers and their families, Jerry Maldovan and wife Judy, Frank Maldovan and wife Kathy, and Thomas Maldovan and wife Betty; a sister, Cindy Stanton and husband Dan; a cousin and best friend, Bob Klanduch; and a sister-in-law, Janet Maldovan.
He was preceded in death by an older brother, Richard Maldovan.
Toughness and courage were staples in his everyday life.  He put these two traits to the test in 2010, when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.  His obstinateness to the disease went until the last breath he took.  He instilled this indomitable fighting spirit in each of his three children and will be carried on in his legacy.
Edward was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor.  Edward was generous, loyal, and brave.  He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of his life experiences.  After graduating high school, Edward served in the Navy for six years, during the Vietnam War, and then went on to spread his vast knowledge of a copious amount of skills across a number of occupations.  He was a hard and dedicated worker, from the Vesta 5 Coal Mines in Vestaburg, to welding, to retiring as a maintenance worker of Uniontown Area School District.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Edward will be remembered for all the heart he shared with friends and family.  If you were lucky enough to know him, you knew his loyalty and love.  When his time came, he carried himself with dignity, strength, and full of love for those who went before him.  He will be missed dearly.
The family will continue to celebrate Edward's love for life at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA 15401, on Thursday, February 1 from 6 to 8 PM and Friday, February 2, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.  Funeral will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 3 at 11 AM with Pastor Kevin Anderson officiating of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Interment is in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
