Dorothy M. (Harper) Roger, age 73 of Uniontown, PA, died on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at The Willows at Presbyterian Senior Care, Oakmont, PA.
She was born on April 9, 1939 in Uniontown, daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Woods) Harper.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband John J. Roger; a brother John Robert "Jack" Harper, and sister-in-law, Jodie Harper.
Dorothy was a graduate of St. John's High School Class of 1957. She was a devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. She was also instrumental in the formation of the Perpetual Adoration group in Uniontown. She retired from Uniontown Hospital where she was employed for 17 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, David K. Roger and wife Brenda of Murrysville, PA; and John J. Roger and wife Barbara of Chapel Hill, NC; three grandchildren, Logan Roger, Kaleigh Roger, and Grant Roger; two brothers, Richard "Dick" Harper and wife Betty of Baltimore, MD; Bernard Harper and wife Joyce of Pembroke Pines, FL; a sister, Mary Jo Albright of Uniontown, PA; two sisters-in-law, Sylvia A. Roger of Uniontown, PA; Betty Jo Wilson and husband Keith of Locust Grove, VA; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA,on Tuesday, July 31, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 1, at 9:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 30 Jefferson St., Uniontown, PA, with Rev. Father James D. Tringhese as Celebrant.
Interment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.
In her memory, contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church Memorial Fund, or to St. John the Evangelist Elementary School.
The Parish Vigil Service will be held on Tuesday.
