Dora Jean Lavery, 90, of Uniontown, PA., died peacefully on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Mount Macrina Manor. She was born on August 2, 1928 in Lemont Furnace, PA., daughter of the late George and Maude (Lloyd) Rutley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas J. Lavery, and her brother and sister-in-law, John D. and Mary Rutley.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, and had been a member of the Jefferson Club, German-Masontown Library Club, and Catholic Widows Club. She graduated with the North Union High School Class of 1946. She had a talent for interior home design, something that she enjoyed sharing with her friends. She also enjoyed cross word puzzles, literary works, and classic poetry. She was a skilled writer, wrote her own poetry, some which were published.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Thomas Patrick Lavery of Uniontown, PA James W. Lavery and wife Jean of Alexandria, VA., and David S. Lavery of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Tara Lavery Landman of Uniontown, Ashley Lavery Russell of Florida, Ryan Lavery and Brendan Graham Lavery of Uniontown, PA, Philip Lavery of Tampa, FL, and Jared Lavery of Providence, RI; 3 great grandchildren, Delaney Landman, Emma Lavery, and Calli Lavery; and a sister, Phyllis Rutley Brubaker and husband Arnold of Lemont Furnace, PA.

Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA (today) Thursday, December 20, from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., when a  Blessing Service will be held at the funeral home chapel.

Private interment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.
