Mr. David J. Kushnar, 67, of Smock, passed away at his home on Monday, August 26, 2024.
He was born in North Charleroi on October 10, 1956 to the late John F. and Anne Hela Kushnar.
David graduated from Belle Vernon Area High School, class of 1974.
He married Lenora Persinski on August 18, 1990. They just celebrated 34 years together.
He retired in 2018, after 27 years with the PA Turnpike. He had previously worked at US Steel Clairton Works and Gnutub of Pittsburgh.
After his retirement, he enjoyed mowing the rough at Nemacolin Country Club with his son.
David enjoyed to hunt and fish and polka dance.
David was a member of St. Mary Church in Uniontown.
He was a Fayette City Volunteer Fire Department life member, and a member of the American Slavonic Citizen Club in Fayette City.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lenora Kushnar of Smock; daughter, Sarah Powell and husband Alex of Zelienople; son, Brandon Kushnar of Smock; a granddaughter, Emilia Powell; two sisters, Joanne Kushnar and Lynn Bennett and husband D.J. both of Fayette City; and a niece, Kendyle Bennett.
Viewing for David will be held at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA 15401 on Thursday, August 29 from 2 to 8 PM. The funeral mass will be held at St. Mary Church, 61 N. Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, PA 15401 on Friday, August 30 at 10 AM.
Interment is in Mt. St. Macrina Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary Church, 61 N. Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, PA 15401 or to St. John the Evangelist School, 52 Jefferson St., Uniontown, PA 15401.
