Dale Eugene VanBremen, passed away in the Uniontown Hospital on July 19, 2014 at the age of 84. He was born on October 21, 1929 to Eugene and Hazel (Christner) VanBremen. His parents and a sister Lois Johnston preceded him in death.
Dale spent his entre life in Uniontown, where, after graduating from Uniontown High School in 1947, and from the University of Chicago in 1950, continued his study at Bryn Mawr College and the University of Pittsburgh. He was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare for 35 years, and retired in 1985. Throughout his career, he provided assistance to the less fortunate members of this community with a profound understanding of their needs.
His personal lifelong interests centered on his home and garden, his remarkable collection of art glass, and his love of the English language. He considered his worst fault to be his inability to resist correcting the malapropisms and grammatical errors that he overheard; but even then, his intention was to help others, not ridicule them. His passing is a great loss to this community.
Left to cherish his memory is his brother-in-law Denis Johnston of Falls Church, VA, and many other family members and friends. He also leaves behind his beloved cat, "Sunshine".
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date and will be announced. Funeral services are under the direction of the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA.
