Obituary

Charles George Yasechko, of Smithfield, passed away peacefully to be with our Lord and his loving wife Jean Frances Yasechko on March 23, 2026, with his loving children at his side.

He was a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Masontown, PA. He was born on July 17, 1927, in Amend, PA. He was employed by and retired from the Colombia Gas Company of Pennsylvania.

Charles was a United States Navy Veteran and graduated from Georges Township High School in 1947 where he enjoyed playing football and basketball. He especially enjoyed playing baseball for several locally sponsored teams in the late 40's and early 50s. Elected in 1980 to the Fayette County Baseball Hall of Fame, Charles was honored during a ceremony held at the American Legion.

His hobbies included trout fishing, vegetable gardening, and maintaining his property with his farm tractors.

He loved his sisters, Elizabeth Kovach and Josephine Smochinsky; and brothers, Albert, Joseph, and Richard, as well as his sisters and brothers-in- laws, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandchildren, children and especially his beloved wife Jean.

Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jean, of sixty-five years of marriage; parents, Emma and Joseph, and brothers and sisters.

Remaining to cherish his memory are, his son, Charles R. Yasechko; daughter, Cheryl A. Kurosky (Frank) both of Smithfield; his granddaughter, Jennifer Gregg of Uniontown; and grandson, Eric Kurosky of Morgantown WV.

Servies are private, and under the direction of the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA 15401.

Interment is in Mt. St. Macrina Cemetery.
