Cecelia T. Rokus George McQuinn, age 88 of Uniontown, Pa., passed away on the 4th of July, 2011 at 7:20 am. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mallard T George Sr.

Cecelia was born to Lebanese immigrants who came to America and was raised in the tradition of speaking Arabic and worshipping at St. George Maronite church in Uniontown. At a very young age, she fell in love with Mowad (Maud) George who was also a member of the close-knit Lebanese community in Uniontown. Their families had come from the same village, Abdalli in Lebanon.

Cel, as everyone affectionately calls her, was especially active at St. George, teaching her children the life of a Lebanese Maronite. As her family grew, she took on the role at St. George as President of the Ladies Guild for several years.

Cecelia will sadly be missed by her legacy including seven children, Thomas (deceased), Elizabeth, Maudena, Sylvia, Victoria, Carol Ann and Mallard Jr., 14 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, PA; on Thursday, July 7, 2011, from 8-9:30 a.m. followed by Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Saint George Maronite Church, 6 Lebanon Terrace Uniontown, Pa., Interment will be held in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
