Obituary

Cecelia M. Kopas, former Perryopolis, Pa. resident, age 81 was granted her angel wings on October 26, 2012 at Belvedere Commons, an Assisted Living Facility in Tampa, Florida. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. She was born October 3, 1931 to Michael and Suzanne (Hlavach) Hovanec, Footedale, Pennsylvania. Cecelia was a member of the "Hovanec Sisters", a musical trio that performed on Sunday evenings at WMBS radio station in Uniontown, Pa. From 1993-1998, she functioned as a Pastoral Musician at St. John's Catholic Church in Perryopolis playing the organ and singing for mass and other liturgical events. She also played the organ and sang at services in protestant churches in Smithton and Belle Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vincent Kopas and her sister Helen (Hovanec) Gabrin. Left to cherish her memory is her sister Evelyn Macar and husband Alex, Tampa, Florida. Other relatives include Susan Balistreri, Bob Macar and wife Robin, Alex V. Macar, Rich Macar and wife Amy, Michael Gabrin and wife Diane, and Dr. Frank Gabrin.

Friends will be received in the Mt. Macrina Cemetery Mausoleum on Saturday November 3, 2012 from 11-1 p.m. when a blessing service will be held with Rev. Fr. Stephen R. Bugay officiating.
