Obituary

Carol Ann Broderick Kekela, died October 23rd 2017, age 69 years.

Carol was born in Uniontown PA on October 5th 1948, the daughter of the late Robert Dale and Leola Frances Wallace Broderick.

She was a graduate of North Union High School, Class of 1966. She was employed in the 1960's with the S.S. Kresge Co. and Uniontown News Co.

She started her newspaper career in 1971 with the Morning Herald newspaper and retired from the Herald-Standard in 2011 after 40 years service as a staff writer, copy editor and society editor. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Newspaper Press Association and was a charter member of the North Union Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8543 Ladies Auxiliary. She was an absolute selfless caregiver to all those around her and was a true angel here on earth. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her mother, Leola Broderick of Uniontown, her daughter, Beth Ann Kekela Windsor, and husband Robin of Glenshaw; brothers Robert Joseph Broderick (Patricia) of Connellsville; Edward Dale Broderick (Connie) of Lemont Furnace; three step-grandchildren Philip, Steven and Kara and their families; Sisters-in-Law Bernie Kekela Lucia and Mary Kekela Lavery of Lemont Furnace and Verna Kekela Martin (Robert) of Uniontown; loving nieces and nephews and their families; Sherri, Renae (Mike), Jennifer (Steve), Susan (Brad); Jason (Jennifer), Ryan, Brendan (Courtney), Mercedes (Samantha) and their families.

She was preceded in death by her father, husband, Ronald J, Kekela, on Dec 29th 1994, maternal grandparents, Oliver and Edna Wallace; paternal grandparents, John and Sarah Broderick; in-laws, Joseph and Elizabeth Kekela; godparents, Joseph Wallace and Nelle Wallace.

Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Thursday, October 26, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Friday, October 27, from 10 - 11 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held.
Interment will be privately held in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.
