Obituary

Carmella Rita Van Verth, age 88, of Uniontown, PA, died on Monday May 30, 2016.

She was born on May 5, 1928 in Shoaf, PA, daughter of the late Fred Remonko Sr. and Rose (Sabatine) Remonko.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Lee VanVerth, her brother Fred Remonko Jr. and her sister Marie Benko.

Carmella was a member of St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church and the Alter Society.

Carmella loved to bake & cook sharing all of her homemade items with neighbors and friends. She also had a love of plants and flowers and in the summer you could always find her sitting outside admiring them.

Her husband Robert's final request was to have his remains buried with the love of his life for 61 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kevin Paul Van Verth, Diane Groppi and husband Leo, Sr., and Robert Van Verth and wife Barbara, all of Uniontown, PA; four grandchildren, Leo Groppi, Jr., Justin Groppi, Robert Clayton Van Verth and wife Dawn, and Celina Metz and husband Matthew; great grandchildren, Andrew, Ryan, Adam, Sarah, Nathan and Lydia Van Verth; Isaac and Grace Metz; and Ella and Cayden Groppi; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA on Thursday June 2, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. and on Friday June 3, 2016 until 9:30 a.m. when prayers of transfer will be said.

A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown, at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA

The Parish Wake Service will be held on Thursday June 2, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. The Rosary will be recited immediately following the wake service.

Thanks to all of the nurses and aides at LaFayette Manor, Amedisys Hospice, Peroni's Personal Care Home and all of the volunteers at Interfaith Volunteers.
