Betty M. Wilson, 97, of Uniontown, PA, went home to heaven on, Thursday, March 22, 2018. She was born October 7, 1920, in Uniontown, to John and Sophia (Marcinko) Massek.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William Wilson; two sisters, Elizabeth Harford and her husband Luke, Jean McNulty and her husband Leo; and her son-in-law, Tom Sikina.
Left to cherish her memory, are her children, Phyllis Springer and her husband Leonard, Jackie Sikina, John Wilson and his wife Betty, all of Uniontown, and Betsy Patt and her husband David of Hollidaysburg, PA; her grandchildren, Jamee Waligura, Kristen Eagle (David), Kimberle Martin (Adam), Katie Meier (Tyler), Sam Patt, Yuri Patt, and Meagan Wilson; her great grandchildren, Bailee Waligura, Taylor Eagle, Tatum Eagle, Hunter Martin, Austin Martin, Courtney Martin, Hewett Meier, and Georgianna Meier; also surviving are her niece, Marybeth Lawrence and her husband Rusty, and nephew, Thomas McNulty and his wife Michaeline.
Betty graduated from the former St. John High School and Office Training School. She was employed for many years as a bookkeeper and retired from JK Packing Company.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, serving as Eucharistic Minister and was a member of Catholic Daughters of America, Christian Mothers, and the Widow and Widowers Club. She was also a member of Catholic Business and Professional Women and Beta Mu Sorority.
She enjoyed many years of volunteer work, especially at St. John's School Cafeteria, where the children affectionately called her "Grandma Betty". Betty also volunteered at Mt. Macrina Manor Nursing Home where she was known as the "Bingo Lady" and for Fayette County Meals on Wheels.
After retirement she traveled extensively and enjoyed reading books. Nothing gave her greater pleasure than cooking large meals for her family on holidays and special gatherings along with her Sunday brunches.
Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Sunday, March 25, from 1 to 8 p.m. and Monday, March 24, until 10:00 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
The Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Jefferson St., Uniontown, PA, with Rev. Father James D. Tringhese as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.
The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff of Hospice and Mt. Macrina Manor.
