Bertha (Fidek) Holonich, 95, a lifelong resident of Masontown, Pa., passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Sage Point Senior Living, LaPlata, MD. She was born in Masontown on April 23, 1921, daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Radovian) Fidek.
In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John A. Holonich in 1999; an infant daughter, Leslie Holonich; two grandchildren, John Woodward, and Susan Gach; three sons-in-law, Walter Gach, Jeffrey Clark, and Bob Riddle; three brothers, Mike Fidek, John Fidek, and Martin "Joe" Fidek; and seven sisters, Marie Fidek, Ann Karimitis, Betty Friedman, Catherine Fidek Wrobel, Sophie Gaza, Margaret Fidek, and Helen Fabinova.
Bertha was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Masontown, Pa. Throughout her life she was devoted to her family and will be sadly missed.
Surviving are her daughters, Barbara Woodward of Greensburg, Pa., Ann Marie Gach of Flint, MI, Kathryn Clark of Huntingtown, MD, Kathleen Shipley of Ontario, Canada; 11 grandchildren, Kimberly Fox, Wendy Woodward, Marsha Whipkey, Craig Woodward, Christine Stevens, Anita Harvey, RoseMarie Sicilia, Tracy Hyatt, Carol Tameris, Mark Shipley, and Leanne Bell; 15 great grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 515 N. Main St., Masontown, PA, on Sunday, March 12, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.; and on Monday, March 13, until 9:30 a.m. when prayers of transfer will be said.
The Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Masontown, PA, with Rev. Father William G. Berkey as celebrant.
