Mrs. Bernadine J. Pompura, 91, formerly of LeMont Furnace, PA, passed away surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, November 15, 2024 at Ashton Commons in Wexford, PA.

She was born in Leisenring, PA on June 14, 1933 to the late John and Anna Katherine Palko Gmiter.

Bernadine graduated from North Union High School, class of 1951.

She married Mr. Joseph Pompura on August 8, 1953. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2018.

Bernadine was a cake decorator for Judy and Jean's for many years.  She was an artist, and loved all forms of art from creating jewelry, pottery, paintings, and more.  Her art was displayed in the Uniontown Hospital and with the Uniontown Art Club.  She enjoyed gardening, was a fabulous baker, and most of all a loving and wonderful mother.

She was a member of St. Mary Nativity Church, and for several years was involved with the St. Mary Christian Mothers group.

Bernadine is survived by her three children, Karen Kapel and husband John of Uniontown, Denise Filiaggi and husband Eugene of Gibsonia, and Michael Pompura and wife Lisa of Carnegie; six grandchildren, Billie Jo Nairn, Jacob Paris and wife Sumiyah , Jessica Owens, Rachel Filiaggi, Christina Filiaggi, and Lauren Filiaggi; five great grandchildren, Jacob Hurd and wife Journey, Drew Hurd, Micah Hurd, and Lucas Hurd, Aleena Paris; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Edward Joseph Pompura; and seven siblings, Jospeh Gmiter, John Gmiter, Michael Gmiter, Edward Gmiter, Agnes Falatko, Helene Gmiter, and Paulena Gmiter.

Visitation for Bernadine will be held at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA 15401 on Tuesday, November 19 from 1 to 3 PM, with a blessing service at 3 PM at the funeral home.

Entombment is in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
