Bernadette Jasimine (Simon) Faieta, age 60, a lifelong resident of Uniontown, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 with her loving family at her side, as she surrendered to a valiant and bravely fought battle with cancer.
She was born on August 2, 1950 in Uniontown, beloved daughter of the late Disey E. Simon and Rose (Ritchey) Simon. Her brother, Eugene J. Simon, Sr. and her nephew, Eugene J. Simon, Jr. also preceded her in death.
"Bernie" as she was affectionately known to her family and many friends, was a faithful member of Saint George Maronite Catholic Church, and a graduate of Uniontown High School Class of 1968. She earned an Associate Degree in Business at Penn State University, and was employed for many years with the Administration Offices of PennDot, and the Fayette County Courthouse Offices of Dr. Phillip E. Reilly M.D. Coroner's Office, and Clerk of Courts.
She was the Beloved Mother of three children, Daughters, Gina Renee Hoff and her husband Daniel Hoff of Uniontown, PA, Melissa Garofalo of Venetia, PA, and Son, Valerio (Jeff) E. Faieta, Jr. at home; Beloved Siti of Vincent Michael Garofalo and Joseph Steven Garofalo; Cherished Sister of Marianne Labella and her husband Nick Labella of Garfield Heights, OH, and Barbara George and her husband Atty. Joseph M. George, Sr. of Uniontown, PA. Also left to cherish her memory are many Dear Nieces and Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews, Cousins, Special Friends and her faithful pet and companion "Boomer".
A wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt, Bernie will always be remembered for her unending strength and devotion to her family and her faith. She loved baking, and making her special pie crust, and enjoyed finding special treasures at yard sales.
The family will receive friends at Saint George Maronite Catholic Church, 6 Lebanon Terrace, Uniontown, PA, on Saturday, October 16, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., when a Memorial Liturgy will be held with Father Nadim Helou MLM, as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.
