Mrs. Barbara J. Nemchik, 74, of Lemont Furnace, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at Mon Health Medical Center.

She was born in Uniontown on August 8, 1951 to the late Donald and Margaret “Peggy” Evans Triplett.

Barbara graduated from Laurel Highlands High School, class of 1969. In 1972 she graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Nursing.

She married Mr. James A. Nemchik on May 11, 1974, and he preceded her in death on December 23, 2018.

Barbara worked as a school nurse for Laurel Highlands School District for forty years; having worked at several schools within the school district, George C. Marshall Elementary School, Clark Elementary School, John F. Kennedy Elementary School, and Hatfield Elementary School.

She was a member of Calvery United Methodist Church.

Barbara enjoyed Harry Potter, shopping, and traveling to NASCAR races with her husband.

She is survived by two sons, Donald Nemchik and significant other, Brock Yagla of Lemont Furnace, and David Nemchik and wife Vanessa of Greensburg; and a brother, Bruce Triplett and wife Stephanie of Uniontown.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Lee Triplett.

Visitation for Barbara will be held at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA 15401, on Thursday, July 9th from 5 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 10th at 11 AM at the funeral home, with visitation before from 10 to 11 AM.

Interment is in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
