Anthony Lawrence Swiantek, age 85, of Vanderbilt, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 2, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh PA.
He was born on December 22, 1925 in South Park, PA, son of the late Anthony Swiantek and Sophia (Janoski) Swiantek.
Anthony was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Theola Swiantek; five brothers, Louis, Clem, Raymond, Michael, and Ted; and three sisters, Cecilia, Amelia, and Florence.
Anthony was a devout catholic, and a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church where he never missed a mass. He was a member of the United Steel Workers and an avid Steeler fan. Anthony loved his dog "Honey Bear" who was a Chinese Chow, and cherished a Christmas tradition of gathering with his family at his farm. Anthony will be deeply missed by his family and friends
Left to cherish his memory are his six children, Lawrence Swiantek and wife Candace of Uniontown, PA., Ronald P. Swiantek of Chardon, OH., Randall A. Swiantek and wife Kathleen of Grand Blanc, MI., Gregory Swiantek of Columbus, OH., Jeffrey Swiantek and wife Sandra of Gaithersburg, MD., and Theresa K. Muchnok and husband Rod of Hopwood, Pa.; ten grandchildren, Kristie, Ashley, Aaron, Timmy, Megan, C.J., Justin, Jonathon, Kaitlin, and Kristen; one great grandchild, Jameson; and a sister Margaret Luce and husband Matthew of Somerset, PA
Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Tuesday, July 5 from 2-9 p.m.; and on Wednesday, July 6 until 9:15 a.m., when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 180 Old Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown, PA, with Rev. Father James Clark as Celebrant.
Interment will be held at St. Vincent De Paul Cemetery, Leisenring, PA.
