Obituary

Anne C. (Pompura) Helisek, 92, of Smock, Pa., died peacefully at home on Sunday, December 9, 2018 She was born on February 21, 1926 in Dearth, Pa., daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Voytko) Pompura.

Her parents, husband Charles Carol Helisek, brothers, Mike, Joseph, Frank, John and Peter Pompura, and sisters, Peggy Sheba, and Stephania Kremposky preceded her in death.

Anne enjoyed her life to the fullest, involved in church, community, family, and many friends. She always greeted you with a smile and a hug. She had a special relationship with each grandchild whom she loved immensely.

At a young age Anne was employed as a nanny for 3 very prominent families in Harrisburg and Uniontown. She also worked as a nurse's aide at Uniontown Hospital.

She was a long time member of St. Hedwig Church in Smock and previously St. John the Baptist, Perryopolis. She was also an active member of the Christian Mothers and Rosary Society, as well as a CCD teacher for many years. She was an active member of Smock Community Center and Museum and bowled on a league for many years. She loved to swim at the Holiday Inn, Uniontown; and in the summer with her family at various places. Visiting family, and going to special events involving her grandchildren made her very happy.

Surviving are her loving children, Peter Helisek with whom she made her home, Carole Kawatsky and husband Ronald, and Arlene Pierno; grandchildren: Anne Theresa Kawatsky-Vandamia and husband Christopher, Frederick Kawatsky and wife Adrienne, Ronald Kawatsky and wife Julia, Anthony Pierno and wife Amy, Regina Moore and husband Rickey, Peter Michael Helisek, Jr. and wife Lori, Zachary Helisek, Dale Illig and wife Robyn, Brian Illig and wife Shannon, and Laura Illig; great grandchildren: Abbi, Fred II., and Wyatt Kawatsky, Caleb and Ethan Kawatsky, Anna and Samuel Pierno, Caige and Brady Moore, Owen Helisek, and Sienna and Mateo Vandamia; her godson, Anthony Hunter; a brother, George Pompura; sisters, Agnes Jubeck, Josephine Franks, Fran Bendo, Mary Hunter, and Patty Androsky; and many nieces, nephews and their families.

Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, Pa. on Thursday, December 20, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.; and on Friday, December 21, until 10 a.m. when transfer prayers will be said.

The Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. on Friday at St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Perryopolis, Pa, with Rev. Father Alvin Cabungcal as celebrant. Interment will be held at Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
