Anna Margaret "Maggie" (Johnson) Riddell, 83, of Uniontown, loving wife and

mother, spoiling grandmother, and faithful sister and friend, finished her earthly

journey on March 9, 2015.

She was born in Uniontown on August 24, 1931, the sixth of seven children to

the late William "Budge" and Anna Johnson. She grew up on Craig Street, and

would not have traded her upbringing for anything. She graduated from South

Union High School, and worked at the Turntable music store and at the Bell

Telephone before devoting herself full-time (and then some) to her family.

Maggie modeled a selfless and generous spirit throughout her life, serving as a

Girl Scout Leader and, for years, as a volunteer at Mt. Macrina's dementia care

facility. Her gift was making others feel loved and special. Going out of her way

was just her way.

She is mourned by her beloved husband, Kenneth Neal, who loved her dearly

and faithfully for all of their 62 years together, and will do so for all eternity.

Also surviving are her loving children Kim Riddell of Uniontown, Laurie (Pat)

Rudzinski of McMurray, Kenneth Jr. (Maureen) Riddell of Hopwood, Melissa Botti

of Uniontown, and Pete (Karry) Riddell, of Washington ... all of whom inherited

their mom's sense of humor, bad feet, and perhaps just a touch of her legendary

stubbornness. They fondly remember a mother who encouraged them to always

do their best, had an ornery streak she was not ashamed of, never took herself

too seriously, never took a good picture, never let them pick up a check, and was

never in a hurry (much to her husband's chagrin).

Mag immeasurably enjoyed the company of her grandchildren Kenny (Maria),

Joshua, Rachel, Jacob, Peter and Emma Riddell, Gina (Shawn) McKernan, and

Krista (Andy) McLachlan, each of whom spent quality time with their Gram on the

front porch as she enjoyed a smoke.

She spent countless hours on the phone laughing and filled countless yellow

notepads with letters to her sisters Janet Thomas, Ruth Peters and Doris

Wallace. In addition to her parents, Maggie was preceded in death by her sister

Nora Brown, brother Bill Johnson, a sister who died after childbirth, and dogs

Whimper, Snuggles and Katie.

Maggie believed that holding a baby was the closest thing to heaven on earth,

that the laughter of children was music, and that you could accomplish anything

you set your mind to.

A Memorial Ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the

Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., WExt., Uniontown,

PA., with Rev. Thomas Holslag Officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in

Maggie's memory to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
