Obituary

Andrew J. Shenal, age 95, of Adah, PA, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016. He was born February 6, 1921, in Edenborn, PA, a son of Peter and Sophia (Kubina) Shenal.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, preceded in death by, his parents; his wife, of many years, Mary M. (Yaniga) Shenal; brothers, John, Joe, Peter, Steven, Paul; and sister, Anna.

Andrew was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Masontown, and former member of St. Albert Roman Catholic Church and St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, in Leckrone, PA. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, 44th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Brigade.

Andrew was president of Palmer Pioneers. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society in past years, and did a lot of work, when he was younger, with the former St. Albert Catholic Church. Andrew was a life member of the Faith-Gray-McArdel VFW Post 4584 and the Fort Mason American Legion Post 423, Masontown.

Left to cherish his memory, are his two children, Robert A. Shenal and his wife Diane of Rootstown, OH, and Jo Ann Shenal of Adah, PA; grandchildren, Robert A. Shenal II and his wife Angela of Brunswick, OH and Jeffrey M. Shenal and his wife Jane of Kent, OH; great grandchildren, Cassandra, twins Andrew and Dylan, Gavin, and Wyatt; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 515 N. Main St., Masontown, PA on Friday, May 6, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, May 7, until 11:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

The Funeral Mass will follow at the St. Francis of Asisi Parish, 101 South Washington St. Masontown, PA, at 12 Noon, with Rev. Father James F. Petrovsky as Celebrant.

Interment will be held Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Mary Cemetery, Leckrone, PA., where Military Honors will be accorded by Faith-Gray-McArdel VFW Post 4584 and Fort Mason American Legion Post 423

.The Parish Wake Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 4 p.m.
