Althea F. Moyer, age 90, resident of Rosy Hill, Lemont Furnace passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at her home. She was born August 25, 1933 in Mount Braddock, PA, daughter of the late Hazel (Howard) York and Harry York. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James Moyer, in 2013, her three brothers Benjamin, Alvin, and Floyd York, her mother and father in-law, Mary and Curt Moyer, and brothers-in-law, George and Bud Moyer.
She is survived by her two daughters Zelda Moyer of Lemont Furnace and Mona Collins and her husband Jeff of Lemont Furnace. One grandson, Brian Cobbs and girlfriend Brianna Holbrook of Lemont Furnace and one granddaughter, Megan Rebick, and her husband Jared of Uniontown, and great-grandchildren Evie Rebick and Waylon Cobbs . Sisters-in-law, Frances Moyer and Eleanor Wiedeman of Rosy Hill, nieces, Drena Bennett, Jayme (Paul) Williams, Bobbi Jordan, and Becky (Larry) Wilcosky, nephews, Jeffrey Moyer and Benjamin (Kathy) Moyer and many great nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her niece, Dr. Kim Karschner.
Althea was a member of Community of Faith Church. She graduated from North Union High School Class of 1951 and served on the reunion committee for their class reunions.
She worked in the office for Eureka Fire Brick for five years and did book work for A.C. Moyer.
Althea devoted her life to being a great wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt to all. She loved to visit with her family and help them when she was needed.
She met Jim at Shady Grove Park while she was working and dated him until they got married.
In her spare time, she read books, did crafts, and did crossword puzzles. She loved to shop with her daughters and grandkids.
Friends will be received at Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home on Monday, November 27 from 2:00-8:00. She will be laid to rest on Tuesday, November 28 at Sylvan Heights with a service beginning at 11:00.
