Obituary

On Sunday, July 7, Albert M. Rusko, Jr., known as "Junior" by almost all who knew him, passed away at his home.  He left this world peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.

Junior was born on June 30, 1928 in Uniontown, PA to Christine Rusko Salvatore and Albert M. Rusko Senior.  Despite having a challenging childhood, Junior grew into a kind, funny and extraordinarily generous man whose humor and zest for life touched all who knew him.  He was the very definition of a self-made man, who excelled at sports, in business and in life.  When younger, Junior was a gifted softball player and a bowler who was so good that he once bowled a three game score of 681.  At the age of forty, he took up the game of golf, and quickly became proficient in that sport as well.  To the amazement of his family, Junior shot eight holes in one over the course of his golf "career".  In business, he transformed a small vending business from a single pinball machine to a multi-faceted vending operation serving multiple locations.

Junior's greatest achievement, and the one of which he was most proud, was of his family.  He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Betty Rusko, whom he called his "angel".  Betty and Junior were the perfect pair in life, and complimented each other in every possible way.  He was unwaveringly devoted to Betty, and she to him.  He is also survived by his brother Paul and his spouse Barbara; his brothers in law John Anthony and his spouse Ann, Robert Anthony and his spouse Sally, and his sister in law Mary Sanfilippo and her spouse Joseph.

Junior was fiercely dedicated to his children and grandchildren, and loved them all dearly.  He is survived by his daughter Linda (Rusko) Smith, her spouse Andrew, and their children Allison (Smith) Stechschulte, and her spouse Paul, Andrea (Smith) Lemasters and her spouse Steven, and their son David; his daughter Lauri (Rusko) Derryberry and her spouse Donald; his daughter Lisa and her spouse Amy Rech, and their children Kimberly Angellone and her spouse Erin, Robert Rech and his spouse Jacqueline, and their children Evander and Elara, and Kurt Rech; and his son David and his spouse Kimberly, and their children Kallista (Rusko) Dennis and her spouse Matthew, Tiffany (Rusko) Landman and her spouse Joshua, David, Ryan and Madison.

The family will receive friends and loved ones at Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext. from 2  to 8 PM on Wednesday July 10, On Thursday,  July 11, Prayers of Transfer 9:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Old Walnut Hill, Uniontown at 10:00 AM.  Interment to follow at Mt. St. Macrina Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks all those who can to contribute any donation of their choosing to the Brain Trauma Foundation or to a charity of their choosing.
