Albert Gordon, Sr., 75, of Mt. Braddock, PA, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He passed away at the Uniontown Hospital.
He was born on September 15, 1938 in Mt. Braddock, son of the late Archie and Frances Elizabeth (Bryner) Gordon. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years, Ruth Anne (Herron) Gordon; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Ruth Herron; sister, Elva June (Gordon) Downs and husband James; and infant brother, Alexander Gordon.
Albert was affectionately known as "Pappy" by his family. He retired from Anchor-Hocking Glass Plant after 36 years. An avid sportsman, Pappy enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Albert Eugene Gordon, Jr. and wife Charlotte of Mt. Braddock; and Lori Wasler and husband Mark of Uniontown, PA; three grandchildren, Heather Wasler, Jennifer Gordon and Kelly Gordon; sister, Lois (Gordon) Hewitt and husband William of Lemont Furnace, PA; and many cousins.
The family would like to thank everyone who brought great comfort to our dear "Pappy", especially his close friends, Jack Albright and Red Stoll; his caregivers, Sharlie, Nancy, Kim, Rene, Janie, and Adam; and his ever faithful friends of the Bruderhof, Tina and Ed, Cathy and Caleb, and Christa and James.
Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA, this evening (Wednesday, October 2) from 7-9 p.m; Thursday, October 3, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.; and Friday, October 4, until 11 a.m.
The Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. on Friday with Pastor Bryan Kelley Officiating.
Interment will follow at Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville, PA
