Albert Davis "A.D." Thomas, 90, of Uniontown, PA, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Generations Elder Care, Uniontown, PA. He was born on November 8, 1924 in Memphis Tennessee, son of the late James and Estelle (Johnson) Thomas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Cherry Couser, Barbara Ann Thomas, and a brother, James Thomas, Jr.

During WWII, he proudly served his country with the United States Army 234th AAA Gun Battalion, receiving the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with Bronze Star, and WWII Victory Medal.

A.D. was a gifted musician, self taught on five woodwind instruments. He played at many churches and social events over the years, and enjoyed sharing his love of music playing his Bass or Tenor Sax, Xylophone, and Clarinet for his friends. He retired from the United States Steel Railroad where he worked for many years.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Sylvia (Taylor) Thomas; sisters, Zella Mae Chapman and Juanita Prince, both of Clairton, PA; and many loving nieces and nephews and their families.

The family will receive friends at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Friday, July 24, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the Hour of Service, with Pastor Owen Anderson Officiating. Military honors will be accorded by George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103.

Interment will be privately held at Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
